Rockwall is the shortest drive of anywhere I regularly photograph, and it shows in how people book. Rockwall families tend to do maternity and newborn and then come back for a mommy-and-me, because getting here is barely a trip at all.
I'm Jenifer. I photograph maternity, newborn and motherhood portraits from a private studio in Mesquite, and I've been doing it for over six years.
Getting here from Rockwall
Straight down I-30 and onto I-635. It is one highway and an exit, which is the reason I can usually offer Rockwall families a wider choice of times than anyone else. There is no rush-hour crossing of Dallas involved in either direction.
Everything is shot indoors, so the lake wind and the summer heat have no say in your date.
If you're delivering in Rockwall
Newborn sessions photograph best between six and fourteen days old, while babies still curl and sleep deeply. That window is narrow and it cannot be moved, so I ask Rockwall families to book during pregnancy rather than after.
Most of the Rockwall babies I photograph are born at Texas Health Rockwall or, a little further west, Baylor Scott & White Lake Pointe in Rowlett. Tell me which one and roughly when you're due, and I'll hold a provisional window rather than a fixed date.
What's included
The studio's couture maternity gown collection, in a range of sizes, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to ship back. Professional hair and makeup as an optional add-on. Fully guided posing, which matters more than most people expect, because you do not need to know what to do with your hands. Every newborn wrap, outfit and prop is provided.
Partners, older children and grandparents are welcome in the session.
Rockwall questions I get asked
How far in advance should I book from Rockwall? For maternity, one to two months. For newborn, during pregnancy. The 6 to 14 day window fills quickly and I only take a limited number each month.
Is it close enough to bring a newborn? Yes, and Rockwall is the one city where I never worry about it. It is a short, uncomplicated drive, and the studio is kept warm and quiet for newborn sessions.
Can we do maternity and newborn together? Yes, and most Rockwall families do. Booking both at once is how you guarantee the newborn window is actually open when your baby arrives.
