DALLAS NEWBORN & MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHER

Newborn photography is the thing Dallas families most often come to me for, and it is the one with the least room for error. You get one narrow window, your baby is only that small once, and a session done in a bedroom with a phone is not the same thing as a session done properly.

I'm Jenifer. I photograph newborn, maternity and motherhood portraits from a private studio just east of Dallas, and I've been doing it for over six years.

Getting here from Dallas

For most of Dallas it's I-30 east and then a short run on I-635. From Lakewood, Casa Linda, White Rock and the rest of East Dallas it is barely a drive, which is why so many of my newborn families come from that side of the city.

The whole session happens indoors in a private studio, so weather never moves your date and nobody is carrying a nine-day-old through a park.

If you're delivering in Dallas

Newborns photograph best between six and fourteen days old. They still curl, they still sleep deeply, and both of those stop quite quickly. Because of that I ask Dallas families to reserve the window during pregnancy, ideally in the second or early third trimester.

Most of the Dallas babies I photograph are born at Baylor University Medical Center, Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas at the Margot Perot Center, or Medical City Dallas. Send me your due date and your hospital and I'll hold a provisional window, then we confirm once your baby is actually here.

What's included

Every wrap, outfit, bonnet and prop for the newborn session, so you arrive with the baby and nothing else. Fully guided posing throughout, including the parent and sibling shots. For maternity, access to the studio's couture gown collection and optional professional hair and makeup.

The studio is kept warm and quiet, and newborn sessions are paced around feeding and settling rather than a clock.

Dallas questions I get asked

How long does a newborn session take? Two to three hours. That sounds long, and it is. Most of it is feeding, soothing and letting the baby settle. Rushing a newborn session is how you get a crying baby and no photographs.

Do you come to our house? No. The lighting, the warmth and the whole prop and wardrobe collection are the reason the work looks the way it does, and none of it travels.

What if my baby comes early or late? That is exactly why I hold a window instead of a date. You text me when your baby arrives and we place the session inside it.
